Putting Our Razors Down To Speak Up

Erasing the Stigma of Men's Health This Movember

When you think of the month of November, you may be excitedly anticipating your Thanksgiving dinner, making the most of the fall season, or gearing up for the holidays and New Year. However, the start of November also signals an important movement to raise awareness for male health issues.

Movember is a global event where people worldwide put down their razors and grow mustaches to show support for men’s health. Movember focuses on four aspects of male health: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. These issues are not talked about enough and, this month, we’re committed to erasing the stigma around them. Here are some of the things Wave Health is doing this Movember and how you can be a part of the conversation.

This Movember, Wave Health is making space to discuss men’s health issues. The movement is starting in our workplace. Throughout the month, the guys on our team are challenging the status quo by growing out mustaches to show support for men’s health. In addition to growing out our facial hair, Wave Health will be providing our team with educational resources while hosting “mo-ments” in order to further promote awareness and create an impact in our community. By making these changes, in terms of our physical appearances and team events, Wave Health is initiating conversations and fostering open dialogue both in person and online through our social media platforms. We are thrilled to take part in inspiring men to stay healthy and look after their well-being.

Movember is all about allowing men to feel more comfortable speaking about their physical and mental health, but it’s important to note that both men and women can inspire positive change this month and continue to raise awareness. We all have men in our lives that we deeply care about — brothers, dads, husbands, sons, friends, and more. Taking part in any form of advocacy, no matter how small, can help make a substantial difference in the lives of many.

It is time we all start acknowledging the severity of these issues and start taking men’s health concerns more seriously. We encourage men to feel empowered to take control of their health. Managing any mental or physical health issue can be difficult, time-consuming, and leave you feeling isolated and alone.

The Movember movement is giving men around the world the space to talk about their issues, have their concerns validated, and feel comfortable getting the support they need. Make sure to follow @wavehealthapp on Instagram and Twitter to see our team support Movember this month!
